Newly-appointed Durban International Film Festival Manager, Ms Chipo Zhou, is set to attend the forthcoming 70th Festival de Cannes in France, where she will be formally introduced to the international film fraternity.

Zhou is an accomplished and versatile film practitioner and film festival curator, with a wealth of experience spanning over 10 years in the creative industry.

Expressing her excitement she said: “Though this is not my first international platform, it will be a first as a prominent figure in the organisation. I am thrilled to be a part of this experience, I plan to build on the past success of DIFF and use this opportunity to bring on board some new collaborations that will see the Festival showcase more African productions to a larger international audience.”

While at Cannes, Zhou will take the time to strengthen existing relationships and create new ones that will fit into DIFF’s strategic plans for the future. This will also be an opportunity to cast the net into the international film scene and find films to be included in this year’s screening programme.

The Durban International Film Festival is one of the leading and longest running film festivals in Africa. This year the Festival celebrates its 38th edition, which will run from the 13th – 23rd of July in Durban.
