Nuclear disasters, wars over oil and gas, climate change and the ever-increasing energy consumption: We have reached an important crossroad and to continue as things are is not an option. But how can we meet our energy needs without destroying our own existence? Is there such a thing as clean energy and efficient technology? And if so, why aren’t we using it? Energized takes viewers on a journey through the crazy world of energy. From the perspective of those affected as well as pioneers and critics. The film documents the desperate attempts to tap the planet’s last oil and gas deposits and to conceal the risks of nuclear energy. It also sheds light on the impact of the gigantic water and solar power plants, debunking popular myths about renewable energy, and takes a look at some other solutions, which cannot be put into practice.

Hubert Canaval studied film directing at the film Academy in Vienna, where he is a lecturer today. He worked as an editor on a number of films, both documentaries and feature films. Recently he also published the narrative der Gott der Nullen as well as the stage play das Neid Projekt.
