Totally disconnected from his past and memory, the Passenger tries to define himself, confronted by his pre-determined fate, a fate that he has to re-live upon every anniversary of his death. The film functions beyond a basic presupposition that we have in our thought, namely that when we die we disappear. The bracketing of this presupposition brings forward a free-form, poetical narrative, and also becomes a call and a challenge for the viewer to bracket his/her rational presuppositions. Reason is attacked in this film and this fact opens up a space for sensing the dimensions of human existence.

Kyros Papavassiliou was born in Cyprus. Impressions of a Drowned Man is his debut feature film. His most recent short film In the Name of the Sparrow was presented in competition at the Cannes Film Festival. He works as a freelance director for commercials and as editor for feature films. He has published a collection of poems.
