The Durban International Film Festival (DIFF) is the longest running film festival in Africa. It is a ten day celebration beginning from the 19th – 29th of July. The festival is looking to employ temporary staff members who will assist the festival’s core staff for the duration of the festival.
An appointed candidate is expected to be professional, presentable, and fluent in English, pay attention to detail and ultimately be an ambassador for the festival.
Below is the list of vacancies:
Jury Minder (4), Duties:
•Managing jury diaries by organising meetings and appointments with filmmakers, festival manager etc. and provide schedule for all jury members.
•Collecting all tickets to screenings and reminding the jury members of their responsibilities and deadlines
•Accompany the jury members to all their scheduled screenings.
•Liaising with festival driver (for pickups & drop offs).
•General support.

Guest Liaison assistants (7), Duties:
•Help prepare welcome folders and bags.
•Review arrival lists to welcome guests.
•Welcoming guests in a friendly and professional way.
•Attend to special guests (e.g. VIPs) and answer their inquiries.
•Assisting guests throughout the check-in process and the duration of their stay.
•Offer assistance with certain tasks (e.g. confirming travel arrangements, taking messages).
•Handle Guest Complaints.
•Coordinate transport by liaising with festival transport manager/ driver,
•General support

Workshop/Seminar Venue Assistants (10), Duties:
•Hand out, collect and count voting slips. You may also be asked to help with the filling of voting slips.
•Prepare operational reports or records.
•Answer festival guests and audience’s questions about the screenings, festival etc.
•Assist festival guests in finding seats, lighting the way with flashlights, if necessary.
•Distribute programs (and catalogue if requested) to festival guests.
•General support.

Screening Venue Coordinators (7), Duties:
•Manage and divide labour amongst venue assistants. 
•Maintain and update inventory record.
•Ensure that all film prints are at the screening venue. 
•Manage sales of t-shirts and catalogues.
•Hand out, collect and count voting slips. You may also be asked to help with the filling of voting slips.
•Prepare operational reports or records.
•Answer festival guests and audience’s questions about the screenings, festival etc.
•Assist festival guests in finding seats, lighting the way with flashlights, if necessary.
•Ensure that your desk/space that you are working on is clean and presentable at all times.
•General support.

Screening venue Assistants (16), Duties:
•Ensure the room is setup, clean and ready for workshop/screening.
•Ensure branding is updated and in full visibility.
•Assist with the sales of t-shirts and catalogues.
•Hand out, collect and count voting slips. You may also be asked to help with the filling of voting slips.
•Prepare operational reports or records.
•Answer festival guests and audience’s questions about the screenings, festival etc.
•Assist festival guests in finding seats, lighting the way with flashlights, if necessary.
•Distribute programs (and catalogue if requested) to festival guests.
•General support

Festival Driver (15-20), Duties:
•Follow routes and time schedule provided.
•Ask for feedback on provided services and resolve clients’ complaints
•Complete logs and reports
•Follow road regulations and safety standards
•General support

Front of house (Receptionist), Duties:
•Answer calls.
•Be able to answer questions about the festival.
•Keep record of voting slips.

Requirements for Drivers
•Proven working experience as a Delivery Driver
•Valid professional driver’s license
•Valid PDP
